The Lola & Sophie Brand

Lola & Sophie, a fashion brand, has its roots in New York City. The visionary behind this brand is Gene Kagan, a Russian-born fashion designer. Gene pursued his business and fashion education in Los Angeles at FIDM before settling in New York City in 1999, where he has been a resident ever since. 

The name of the company found inspiration for the name LOLA & SOPHIE from their adorable furry friends. Lola, a beautiful long-haired Chihuahua, and Sophie, a charming grey/beige Havanese, became the namesakes for this brand.

Originally intended to be a simple T-shirt collection, Lola & Sophie swiftly transformed into a prominent contender and now stands independently with a diverse range of captivating and innovative clothing pieces. These include knitted and silk tops, figure-hugging ruched dresses, and layered cardigans. The initial assortment was dispatched in the spring of 2009, featuring four fundamental silhouettes available in ten different colors. Experiencing exponential growth, the collection now presents a vast array of fabrics, textures, colors, and silhouettes. Gene describes it as "Novelty on steroids," emphasizing that this line is far from basic anymore.

Gene Kagan

Kagan, originally from Riga, Latvia, relocated to Los Angeles at the age of 16. He introduces a contemporary approach to fashion, emphasizing the use of versatile key pieces and interchangeable items that seamlessly transition from day to evening, weekday to weekend, and season to season. This comprehensive wardrobe caters to every woman and every occasion. “I believe in creating wearable multi-function clothes. My target customer is a woman of style and individuality.  She’s 18.  She’s 100!  And everything in between. The common denominator is her desire to look polished and put together.”
